Kiesza - Hideaway - video analysis by shemsi

From my research, the genre of the song is "deep house" and that it is a combination of jazz and soul style music.Through out the video there are bright colours in the background, getting the viewer to feel happy. The lyrics link to Kiesza's movements, which makes the video fit in with the lyrics.
One example of this is when Kiesza says the word "dreaming" she looks ahead as if she is looking at what is to come.
By the looks of it, the video is set in a middle class city, which could be in California, as she is from California, where she dances her way down a couple streets.

Within the video there are a variety of moments where there are many dancers in the background, which are all dancing to the beat.
The dance through out the video is a smooth calm dance, the steps of the dancers move in time with the drum claps.
During the video there are a few close ups of Kiesza, when she walks up to the camera, and the moves back to a mid-shot camera angle, when she then continues to follow the camera.

The artist also makes eye contact with the camera to create a link to the viewers, and get a personal feel to the video.
In her lyrics she also uses sexual noises such as when she says "ooh aah ooh aah ooh aah" which makes the audience think twice.
She also does some slow flirtatious movements for example when she dances against a wall to attract the male gender, she also starts to dance with a male dancer, making close up, eye contact between the male dancer, which causes the beat to move quicker and with more passion.
Another aspect that the artist uses to attract her target audience is by her clothing.
By what she and the female dancers are wearing, they attract the male gender.
Through the video she is met by a variety of dancers at different stages in the video, she is then met by all off them at the end of the video, where she has a final dance of where the music also gets quicker and more lively, she then calls for a taxi, and that's where the video ends.
